Pucca comes to Cake Pops

Pucca has made it to Just a Bite Cake Pops. We received a special order for this adorable character to be placed on our yummy cake pops. Our creative bakers set to work and this is the fruit of their labor. A lovable collection of Pucca cake pops and what a fantastic job they did. I can almost hear the Ninja cries coming from these animated pops.

Remember Just a Bite Cake Pops for your next party, wedding or event. We always like a challenge and would love to create your favorite character on some of our scrumptious pops.

Rebranding Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has always been one of those holidays that is a little blurry for me. Growing up, my parents dragged my brother and I to some friends of the family’s house where we sat and waited (for far too long it seemed) to have a big meal and then there would be a lot of sitting, and talking, and then pumpkin pie, and then we would finally go home.

Once I left home and moved west, Thanksgiving was always a potluck of friends getting together and eating and drinking together. Having Thanksgiving away from home always caused a bit of anxiety about “where am I going to have Thanksgiving dinner this year???”.

Then our family had a rough Thanksgiving in 2006 … suffice it to say it was a tough year to celebrate. Since then, I have struggled to really get excited about the pilgrim patented, turkey touting, overindulgent holiday. I have found myself trying to figure out, for myself, what this particular occasion means to me, and how can I give it meaning for myself personally.

Which brings me to my personal goal for this season – to rebrand Thanksgiving. Rename it, retheme it, give it a whole new life… and I’m looking for suggestions. This effort is going to be based on a theme of gratitude. Gratitude for what I have, and for what I don’t. Gratitude for the ability to breathe deeply and love freely. Gratitude for my family who is so dear to me, though they are miles away. Gratitude for the gifts in my life that are too many to count.

I look forward to a week of personal celebration of this gratitude and even I am not sure how that will unfold. I know only that as I enter the season of giving, I am striving to do so with a peaceful mind, open heart and healthy body. I invite you to share with us how you will be celebrating your gratitude this week. As for my rebranding efforts, we will keep you posted. In the meantime, Just a Bite wishes you a grateful beginning to your holiday season.

The evening was abuzz with TV personalities and local socialites, not to mention tons of people shopping and getting into the spirit of the FNO.

Just a Bite™ was only one of the vendors at the Island. We handed out chocolate, red velvet and vanilla cake pops decorated in white, red and black, to shoppers. The pops were such a huge hit we actually ran out by 7pm and the event lasted well until 9pm. What a rush to be devoured by the public. Everyone just loved the pops. We even handed out some cake pops to the stars; Lo Bosworth of Laguna Beach and The Hills and Lynne Curtin of the Real Housewives of OC enjoyed the tasty treats.

So happy to be a part of the Irvine Company’s extravaganza. Thanks to all who showed up, ate the pops and shopped ‘til they dropped.

Raspberry, Paisley and Pops

We’ve got custom orders in the bag, Vera Bradley’s bags that is. We were so fortunate to work with Vera Bradley recently on a huge cake pop order. Just a Bite™ cake pops was part of the huge Fall Launch to 29 Vera Bradley stores. The goal was to color match one of the newest prints, Very Berry Paisley, and create a raspberry cake to die for and we did it. Our busy poppers were working overtime to get out more than 1400 pops. From the East Coast to Hawaii, our raspberry pops headed to the stores this past week, fifty to each, and boy we couldn’t be more proud.

Vera Bradley was founded over 27 years ago by two friends, Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia R Miller, and named after Baekgaard’s mother Vera. On a vacation in 1982, the two friends noticed there was a lack of feminine luggage in the marketplace. They wasted no time and within two weeks a company was born. With quality in mind, the two women created a company that is now nationally and internationally known for functionality, dependability and beauty. Every year women all over the world look forward to new prints and products from this fine company.

We are so happy to be a part of the most recent launch of Vera Bradley. The Very Berry Paisley print and our cake pops was a match made in raspberry heaven. Stop in to a local Very Bradley store to experience the quality for yourself, see their website for locations or to purchase online. http://www.verabradley.com/

Jewel-Toned Pops

The 31 Bits party was a great success. Our brightly colored, jewel-toned cake pops were a huge hit. Everyone just loved how the display looked with the beautiful jewelry. And speaking of the jewelry, it is beyond craftsmanship, beyond stunning, it’s just amazing what these women do with paper and their own hands.

We were so proud to be a part of this party and can’t wait to do another partnership in the future. If you love the colors we used for the 31 Bits party, remember, we can match just about any color and would love to be a part of your next event!

We LOVE Creative Custom Orders

When we were asked to make Tennis Ball Cake Pops, we leaped at the chance to jump the net. With icing in our hands we decorated these colorful, playful Cake Pops for a recent event. They were so adorable they didn't even need sticks and were displayed as a "bucket of balls".

We can do many different athletic Cake Pops and would love to decorate in your school's favorite colors. Please let us know if you have any awesome ideas for pops, with sticks or no sticks. We love a challenge and can show you a sample before the big day. Enjoy the summer and remember to stay sweet!

31 Bits Launch Party

Just a Bite™ is partnering with 31 Bits for a boutique line launch party this summer. The event will be held Thursday, June 24th from 5:30-8:00pm at the Westerly in Corona Del Mar. Part of the proceeds will be going to 31 Bits and the women who make it possible.

31 Bits started out in 2008 when five college students from Southern California traveled to Uganda and met six amazing women. These women were creating piece of artwork disguised as jewelry, they needed to feed their families and pay for school, medical and shelter. Unfortunately the market was lacking and these intuitive college girls knew they could make a difference. 31 Bits provides a market for the jewelry made in Uganda and is helping to change lives, one necklace at a time.

Just a Bite™ Cake Pops will be displayed at this unique event and is very proud to be a part of such a remarkable and considerate project.

Taste of the Nation:No Kid Hungry

Helping to end children’s hunger is of great importance to Just a Bite™. This past weekend we participated in a fantastic event called Taste of the Nation: No Kid Hungry. It is one of 55 events taking place this summer, throughout the United States, in an effort to end childhood hunger. This star-filled affair took place at Media Park in Culver City on June 6th.

Brilliant LA chefs, mixologists and dessert divas, like our own Mindy Himmel, donate their time and talent to this cause. From Chilean Sea Bass to Thai Shrimp Skewers to Chocolate Cake Pops, every food you could imagine was in attendance. Funds are raised to support local recipients like St. Joseph’s Canter, Los Angeles Coalition to End Hunger and Homelessness , Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and California Food Policy Advocates.

Our Cake Pops were displayed in the exclusive VIP tent and we were thrilled at the response. Just A Bite™ loves to work with parties and weddings, but we definitely have a soft spot for a charity. Remember us when you are putting together an auction basket or are having a charity event of your own.

Get Carried Away West Coast Style

What do a pink carpet, movie premiere, cosmos, and Just a Bite Cake Pops have in common? Get Carried Away Sex and the City 2 premiere party, West Coast style. We were thrilled to be part of such a fantastic event. Nicole with the Henley Company was kind enough to include us in the Sex and the City 2 swag bags at this one of a kind party. And the Henley Company sure does know how to throw a party.

We were ecstatic to be a part of the biggest premiere party this side of Rockefeller Center and decided to serve up hot pink and white cake pops in honor of the famous foursome. Ladies on the West Coast were given the celebrity treatment and enjoyed delicious treats, a complimentary Cosmopolitan hosted by Skyy Vodka and some much needed girl time.

The event was a huge success and the movie didn’t disappoint. Mindy with Just a Bite said she laughed, she cried, and left satisfied. Of course who wouldn’t enjoy the movie with a delicious Cake Pop in hand? Remember Just a Bite can amp up the deliciousness at your next pink carpet event. Give us a call; we’d love to send a little POP your way.

HOLD YOUR LINE - Not just another cycling club

Just a Bite Cake Pops is proud to be partnering with Michele Landry Designs to sponsor a new cycling PLUS club... based in Newport Beach but open to all. You might see our gear in Arizona or in other select places around the country. Michele Landry, artist and athletic rock star decided it would be fantastic to bring the group of friends that train and play as a group, together in a bigger way with custom cycling kits (a kit is the outfit that you always see cyclists crusing around in, you know, the matchy matchy spandex get-up) that promote our mission (more on that later) and that just happen to look and feel amazing.

Landry is a natural athlete, yes, but she also has a gift for the visual arts. From interior design to handmade designer jewelry, she just plain makes things look good. Including the HOLD YOUR LINE kits you see in the photos. If you look closely, you will see the Just a Bite logo front and center on the jersey and what's that sticking out of the back pocket of the jersey - OMG IT'S A CAKE POP. What better fuel for a long ride than a cake pop, better eat it before it melts.

In addition to Michele Landry Designs and Just a Bite Cake Pops, you will also see featured our other partners, Edge Cycle Sports , a triathlon gear store in Irvine, Palmer Design (she created that fantasic logo for Michele with the hummingbird and the HOLD YOUR LINE logo), Skirt Sports (absolutely amazing running and athletic apparel for women - the ORIGINAL running skirt company), and Massage 360.

And there's more, members of HOLD YOUR LINE also enjoy great discounts with each of our sponsors - 20% at Just a Bite Cake Pops.

As a group, we train hard, we play hard and we race hard (then we eat cake pops). It's about having fun and looking and feeling your absolute best while doing it. Our partners exemplify these philosophies. Below - you will see some explanation of the "HOLD YOUR LINE" phrase we keep mentioning. The references are to cycling but it is clear that these principles translate well to our everyday attitudes, interactions and aspirations. Keep your eyes peeled for HOLD YOUR LINE team and in the meantime, hold YOUR line.

HOLD YOUR LINE
1) Do not make any sudden changes in the path you are following
(Life translation: Be reliable)

2) Riders who are following you should have confidence in you that you will hold to the line that they see you traveling in
(Life translation: Stay consistent)

3)Ride smooth, with no real sudden movements, direction changes, or hard braking (Life translation: Be respectful and kind to others)

4)If you're riding in a group, then you need to be aware of who is beside and behind you with an overlapped wheel. If you keep moving around in front of them, you are going to cause a major pile up, so look over your shoulders and just be aware of riders around you
(Life translation: Treat others only as you consent to being treated in the same situation)

5) You must plan your line and speed through the curve and not just go into it and without being worried with the other riders
(Life translation: Do not be selfish)

6)It's not hard. If you're behind someone and you watch them as they go into a turn you can get a picture of what their line through the turn will be -- or at least should be. You'll also have an idea of what your line will be and hopefully it will be the line that people around you are taking into account for their lines through the turn
(Life translation: To apply it, imagine yourself on the receiving end of the action in the exact place of the other person (which includes having the other person's likes and dislikes). If you act in a given way toward another, and yet are unwilling to be treated that way in the same circumstances, then you violate the rule.

Fancy Favors

Everyone deserves a little fancy. And what says fancy better than Tiffany blue? This past week, with the help of our special talents in color matching, we made over 100 red velvet cake pops with Tiffany blue candy coating and white sprinkles. The colors went so well together and really "pop". Our bride also requested chocolate pops with white candy coating, topped with chocolate jimmys. The wedding colors are blue, white and chocolate and her guests are going to love this yummy favor. We even boxed them in clear boxes with crinkle paper for a special presentation.

These unique treats are on a plane heading to Canada for a wedding this weekend. It’s always fun to have such a cool order and we would love to make these favors for your special event or party. Remember we can match almost any color and love a challenge. So let your imagination run wild and we’ll help you pull it off.

Double Header

Today, Just a Bite got to participate in a B'nai Mitzvah at 7 Degrees in Laguna Beach AND an amazing wedding at the Fairmont in Newport Beach. The B'nai Mitzvah was for a brother and sister. The theme colors were neon green and hot pink. What fun colors!! We got to partner with Francie from Balloons Sound Great. She makes amazing balloon arrangements (check out her website) as well as custom sculptures and displays. We brought the cake pops and she created the fantastic displays to show them off. Check out these pics of us setting up, the finished product and a couple examples of Francie's creativity for this event.

We even ran into a couple at 7 Degrees that was checking out the venue for their wedding and we gave them a couple pops we had to spare.

Next, on to the Fairmont. The display for the wedding we created ourselves. And the brainpower to create a circular display designed to hold and show off 435 cake pops, each with a handwritten placecard, was no small feat. We couldn't have pulled if off without all of the great ideas and help.

The foam that made the base for the display was too large to assemble before delivery so we put it together onsite and then carefully placed the cake pops around the beautiful manzanita tree arrangement created by Manjit of Manjit's Flower Cottage. Three words, OMG. The centerpiece was amazing but that was just the beginning. The floral touches throughout the ballroom and in the entry area took your breath away. His creativity and detailed touch added such elegance to our shared placecard presentation. Enjoy the photos of the Just a Bite wedding display and some of Manjit's work. What a fantastic day.

It is such a joy to see all of the hard work come together when we get to share our creations for events such as these.
